About Matilda Reich
Matilda is a rare combination of copywriter and information designer with a technical writing background. She applies information design principles to improve the clarity of communication.
Her affinity with marketing communications first appeared in high school where she initiated a successful promotional campaign to launch the school’s newspaper. She later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Communication) from the NSW Institute of Technology (UTS), Sydney. She joined the new telecommunications carrier, Optus Communications where she improved business efficiency. She re-engineered her role (as technical information co-ordinator) to the extent that she made her own job redundant. (see Case Study 3)
Optus promoted her to 'Business Process Analyst'. BPAs had to work with staff from different disciplines to document and improve end-to-end business processes. Matilda was the catalyst to improve and document a sales-support process that directly impacted customer retention. (see Case Study 2)
Freelance consulting to the telco industry followed with clients like AAPT Telecommunications and Cable Wireless Optus. For AAPT she interviewed key call center staff to document sales processes for their bundled products. These processes were road-tested by their sales channels and were found to accelerate the sales cycle.
As a member of the Australian Society of Technical Communicators, Matilda was volunteer editor of their yearly journal. The Society was losing members back then so Matilda surveyed the members. She used the survey feedback to improve the journal’s content to the extent that annual membership renewals stabilised and increased by 45.7% over the next three years. (see Case Study 1)
She completed a Graduate Diploma in Information Design due to the exploding Internet marketplace. The focus of information design is to improve the customer experience from the point of attracting prospects to the point of sale. She completed the American Writers & Artists Inc’s (AWAI) Copywriting Courses and studied renowned website optimisation expert, Nick Usborne's, methods.
Matilda is driven to help businesses improve their marketing ROI. Her copy is 'cut-to-the-chase' that takes up the 21st century challenge of ‘doing more with less’.
